What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Florida? Most people tend to envision time spent on the sand at the beach, palm trees, blue skies and warm weather. Most certainly, these are some of the main attractions of Florida and for those who are dealing with the cold weather up north, getting into a warmer part of the United States is certainly a welcome change. Tallahassee Florida also has a lot of warm weather and beautiful skies to offer, but it also is home to many other activities that you may find enjoyable as well, including the following.

Tallahassee Museum – When you are in the area Tallahassee Florida, it’s a good idea to stop by this museum. You would be amazed at all that is possible to do in the area. It isn’t simply a building that has exhibits that you visit one after another, although there are some indoor exhibits available, it is also an outside area that is well worth visiting as well. You will find a trail that winds its way through a natural area and a zip line that is loads of fun.

Jackson Mounds – If you enjoy history, beauty and exploring more of what an area has to offer outside of restaurants and shopping, then this is an option for you. It is a site that has been well preserved because it was occupied by native people hundreds of years ago. There are mounds in the area that are quite interesting, including one that is 36 feet high. According to excavations that have taken place at the site, it required a lot of pre-planning and organization to build these mounds, which may have taken many years to do so.

Florida State Capital – The Capitol complex located in Tallahassee Florida contains four interesting and quite diverse buildings. The older Capitol building is available, and it has been restored and is able to be visited. This is a great place to spend the day because there is a lot of historical information to be found. It is also a great way to spend a day with your children, giving them a little bit of education while at the same time, introducing them to Tallahassee in a unique way.

This is really only scratching the surface of things to do in Tallahassee. Like any area, it is well worth exploring.
